Impact Statement

Accomplishments (2017-2018):

  • Scholarships: in spring of 2017, the Foundation awarded 73 scholarships totaling nearly $58,000
  • During the fall semester, 36 scholarships were awarded totaling $25,600
  • Total of 109 scholarships which equaled nearly $84,000
  • Mid-America Education Hall of Fame Awards and Scholarship Event: happened in April 2018, four community leaders were honored with awards and the event raised over $100,000 for student scholarships.
  • Foundation Board of Directors has grown to seven members

Goals (2017-2018):  

  • Continue to grow the Foundation Board of Directors
  • Scholarships: the Foundation will increase endowed and direct scholarship support.
  • Implement a newly developed KCKCC Alumni Association
  • Data implementation project which will help increase communication with KCKCC alumni and supporters

Needs Statement
  • Board Growth: nominations are desired for potential board members.
  • Development Assessment: $25,000. To engage a consulting firm to complete a development assessment of the Foundation’s development history, current condition, and desired course for improvement.
  • Capacity Building: $25,000. To support acquisition of software systems and hardware to support development activities, as well as, to support ongoing development consulting during the process of capacity building.
  • Scholarships: $10,000 minimum for endowed scholarships. No minimum for direct scholarships or contributions to the general scholarship endowed fund.

Kansas City Kansas Community College is a centrally located public 2-year institution in northeast Kansas. Within the city limits of Kansas City, Kansas, the College is conveniently located within Wyandotte County.

A flexible schedule of course offerings is provided to meet the needs of its students. In addition to regular day and evening courses, KCKCC offers classes in the late afternoon, on Saturdays, in the summer, online, and at mid-semester. KCKCC has two extension sites at 1) the Pioneer-Leavenworth Career Center, 1905 Spruce in Leavenworth, Kansas, and 2) Dr. Thomas R. Burke Technical Education Center, 6565 State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. KCKCC also offers classes at a variety of locations in the metropolitan area and in small towns surrounding Kansas City, Kansas.

The Kansas City Kansas Community College Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established in 1984. The Foundation is affiliated with Kansas City Kansas Community College. This is a rebuilding year for the Foundation as it seeks to expand its Member at Large (i.e. community) board of directors’ contingent from its current two (2); to six (6) to nine (9) members.

Description

Endowed scholarships are placed in trust by the Foundation or the donor and provide a perpetual stream of financial support from the return on dollars invested. The donor may designate criteria for scholarship awards. Direct scholarships are expended normally in zero to three years. The donor may designate criteria for scholarship awards.
