Mission Statement The mission of MADE MEN is to empower individuals and communities to succeed through education, training and connections to sustainable resources.
Background Statement
Made Men started in 2012 as the vision of Nelson Gabriel. Nelson had a childhood in New Orleans, Louisiana, not unlike many of his peers, with many challenging circumstances.

Since 2012, Made Men has been committed to creating a unique and innovative learning environment, driven by the needs of our students. Like many people, Made Men clients have very complicated lives, but theirs are often unduly impacted by serious economic barriers and instability. It is our conviction and belief that these individuals are trying to do, and be, their best and that when they get the academic support they need, they change their lives, they graduate, and they succeed.

Made Men will continue to provide the tuition-free, quality and comprehensive education to individuals previously unsuccessful in traditional schools. Made Men bases its program model on three primary areas for individual success: academic classes that are small, rigorous and personalized; holistic support services that provide on-site interventions and address clients life barriers; and workforce development training that is integrated into everyday learning.

While Made Men’s programs have changed with the times, our mission and vision remain constant—to create and sustain opportunities that strengthen families and communities.
Impact Statement

During our last 3 years, Made Men through our core program, Life Strategies, 118 young adults and adults have completed their General Education Diploma (GED) and several have begun their post-secondary education.

Among our graduates is Karen. As a direct result of her involvement with our program and our partnership with Grantham University, she was able to obtain a full scholarship to obtain a certificate in Business Leadership. She is currently attending with a 3.6 GPA.
We are excited about our future. As we enter the next decade, we have two goals:
  1. Life Strategies, our signature programming will be enhanced and expanded to provide strengths-based case management services.
  2. Double our sustaining monthly givers.
