Mission Statement To make a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer by providing a more healing and comfortable environment for receiving infusions.
Background Statement
With an understanding that not all not-for-profit organizations are created equal, Jamie's Wish Foundation was born to be set apart. The foundation was started by several of Jamie Barkes Pursley's closest friends. In 2011, When Jamie realized her life was coming to an end, she asked her friends about the possibility of raising enough money to give the infusion suite at Lawrence Memorial Hospital a facelift.
Jamie spent countless hours in the infusion suite receiving chemotherapy. Simply stated, despite the best of intentions of the staff and administration, it wasn't the most comfortable or relaxing space to spend hours upon hours in. Jamie wanted to change that for other patients and their loved ones.

Shortly after Jamie's death, several of Jamie's friends met with key administrators at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Those closest to Jamie wanted to get her last wish underway as quickly as possible. Through various fundraisers, media attention and friends and family coming together, Jamie's Wish Foundation raised close to $150,000 within just a few months. Every penny was donated to the LMH Oncology & Hematology Center's renovation project.

In 2016, Andy Tyhurst had a heartfelt conversation with Aimee Chadwick shortly after they became friends regarding the idea of transforming another cancer center. Andy had Stage IV appendix cancer. He too, wanted to help cancer patients feel better during chemotherapy sessions with an updated infusion suite. This project will benefit The University of Kansas Cancer Center North location, where Andy received his treatments. Fundraising is now underway and we can use your help.

Jamie's Wish Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It is a patient driven group which uses evidence based design. It's purpose is the remodeling of cancer centers/infusion suites so patients and their families can have a relaxing, comfortable experience. Just the way Jamie wanted it.
Impact Statement
In our first project, 15 Infusion suites at Lawrence Memorial received infusions of their own. The required capital was raised and the project was completed in record time. The project commenced in August of 2011 with a goal of $100,000. Within 90 days, over $142,000 was raised. The dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony was March 30, 2012, exactly 1 year and 1 day after the world lost Jamie.

Our current project: We are relentlessly committed to reach our current goal of remodeling the infusion suite of The University of Kansas Cancer Center North. Our second major project, the KUCC North project is a significant undertaking at over $800,000 in scope. The project consists of gutting the current infusion areas and reconstructing the entire interior. New lighting, flooring, equipment, furniture (life-saving patient infusion chairs and guest chairs), nurses station, reconfigured space plan with community area, semi-private and private infusion areas.

Please help us keep her legacy alive with your love and support.
Needs Statement
The current needs of Jamie’s Wish Foundation are central to additional donations.

We have raised over $150,000 to date for our current KUCC-North Project. We have roughly $650,000 left to raise and we have set a public goal of 4 years to do so.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Chair Statement Founder, Aimee Jackson Chadwick stated, "Interior design is not just a passion of mine. I have recognized to what degree interior environments shape our mood and capabilities. Healing is one of the most important aspects of human existence. Intersecting these two elements has become my life's goal." She continued, "The simple thing to do is to be compassionate. The harder thing to do is to accept the responsibility of taking action where its needed. I am surrounded by professionals within this beautiful organization that are consistently rolling up their sleeves and getting the good work done." She added, " We live by the words of the Matthew West song, Do Something; If not us, then who?... If not now, then when?... It's not enough to do nothing... It is time for us to do something."

Short-Term Success Per our 4 year commitment to raise funds for this project to completion, we have currently donated $50,000 directly to the escrow account for this project (of which we are the sole supporters).  In order to have an immediate impact on the patients and project, we are donating 5 life-saving infusion chairs ($25,000 value) at our next fund-raiser in June 2018.  It is our goal to raise $200,000 per year for 4 years.
Long-Term Success The University of Kansas Cancer Center North Infusion Suite is outdated and lacking from a 'healing environment' perspective.  It is our goal to raise $800,000 to completely renovate this Infusion Center to benefit patients from all walks of life and their families, support systems.
Program Success Monitored By Capital growth using strict fiduciary oversight. All funds raised are placed into our Not-For-Profit account at BMO Harris Bank which is set up as 1) a money market account to raise interest and 2) an operating account. Our operating budget is roughly only $2,000 per year.
Examples of Program Success Progress towards donations to KUCC. We are $50,000 in cash and $25,000 in new furniture/equipment towards our $800,000 commitment with roughly $80,000 in our money market account and $500 in our operating account.
CEO Comments With a successful project completion behind us, we are marching full speed ahead on our next project.  We are delighted to have the consistent support of our board, our fundraising partners, news agencies, the community and the University of Kansas Health Systems.
