Mission Statement
We seek to provide a holistic education marked by academic excellence where students are exposed to Jesus and through Him are nurtured and inspired to become leaders in their community.
Background Statement

Simply put, we believe Christ is the only hope for the transformation of lives. When we look at the city we call home, we see His fingerprints all around us and at the same time we see the brokenness that sin has caused. From the effects of historical and ongoing racism to abuse and neglect, we’ve seen and experienced thedevastation that sin has caused in this community. Many are tempted to believe the lie that things can't change and dysfunction is hopelessly cyclical. But there is a Light that can pierce through the darkness and a Hope that can restore all that has been broken. We believe that God alone has the power to break through the chains of injustice in our city. We believe He has deep love and compassion on the least of these, that he longs to be a refuge for the weary and burdened. We see a quality education as an important key in the process of breaking the cycle of poverty and transforming broken parts of our city into flourishing communities. Therefore, our goal is to see our students on a different trajectory than the one their zip code dictates. We believe that while Jesus is the lynch pin to transformation, an excellent high-quality education is a vehicle to a myriad of life options we believe our students deserve and are capable of.

As they only tuition-free, private, Christian school in Kansas City, we take our calling very seriously. Our goal is to continue to serve our scholars and their families through elementary school, middle school, high school, and walk with them as they pursue higher-education.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Chair Statement
I began the journey of launching Urban Christian Academy by asking the simple question, “What if?”  What if your zip code didn’t have so much weight in determining your access to a high quality education? What if kids fell in love with learning and were fueled by curiosity about the vast world God created? What if school discipline wasn’t just about changing behaviors but creating space for Jesus to change hearts? I realized the answer to all my what if questions led to a deep hope that the cycle of poverty can be broken, that scholars from under-resourced communities can defy all odds and achieve greatness, that the Gospel can break every chain and open every door.

Since our doors opened we’ve been fighting relentlessly for the scholars that are now part of our growing family. The prohibitive cost of a typical private Christian education excludes the families we have targeted, therefore we have removed that barrier and seek to provide a tuition free Christ-centered education. Each scholars tuition totals $7,500 and we have successfully partnered with members of this great community to sponsor each UCA scholar’s tuition up to this point. It’s beautiful to watch the ways this type of education is inspiring hope and building a solid foundation for scholars to pursue the life options we believe they deserve and are capable of achieving.
Programs
Description
Our ultimate goal is provide a high quality, Christ-centered education. We employ several data driven ideologies to achieve this goal. We believe in experiential learning, therefore, we give our scholars as many chances as possible to touch what they are learning. We go on weekly field trips to meet this goal as well as bring in community leaders to share their experiences. We infuse arts education in every aspect of our learning to create well rounded thinkers. Class sizes are limited to 16 in order to provide a distinctively differentiated learning experience for each scholar. We create intentional times of worship and Biblical study so scholars can be exposed to the beauty of Jesus.
