Additionally, she led annual giving, endowment and major gifts programs at the United Way of the Quad Cities in Iowa/Illinois and provided consulting services, including strategic planning, to nonprofits for more than a decade. She has also directed public relations, advertising, and marketing programs for both nonprofit and private sector organizations. Julie joined the UCS team in 2016.
UCS has experienced staff that are guided by sound policies established by the board of directors. The board adopted a strategic plan in June 2012 and recently re-affirmed the plan. A new strategic plan will be developed in 2017.
Indirect Public Support HelpIndirect public support represents revenue received through solicitation campaigns. This includes funding United Way and other federated fundraising organizations, but does not include donor designated contributions.
Earned Revenue HelpEarned revenue represents income generated in direct exchange for a product or service.Earned income includes income from government contracts.
UCS was started 49 years ago as a planning partner of United Way and received all of its funding from United Way. Today, UCS receives one-third of its funding from United Way and one-third from local government sources. To raise the other one-third, UCS needs to identify new sources including foundations, businesses and individuals. In addition to its operating budget, UCS manages a fund contributed by local government for distribution to local nonprofit agencies. This pool of dollars (approximately $268,000) is included in UCS audit and IRS 990.
